The songwriting talent behind the 1980's pop twosome Wham! was Greek extract George Michael. The other guy, whose name I seem to have permanently forgotten, was very fortunate in my opinion to reap rich rewards from an extremely unequal partnership .

I can't say the type of music George writes really turns me on, but in his case it has enough class to register on my musical seismometer. It is unashamedly commercial, but has a personality which carries it through.
I had always thought that George was overly image conscious and rather too fond of himself. But the self-effacing humour he showed when fending off questions from Yorkshire tyke Michael Parkinson following his chance discovery indulging in ' lewd conduct ' in a Beverly Hills rest room left me feeling vaguely fond of the man himself as well as his music
